Jamie Klag: Bouvé College of Health Sciences 

Jamie Klag is a Speech-Language Pathology graduate student at Northeastern University, recognized for her impactful contributions to the community and research in pediatric motor speech disorders. Through her work in the Speech Motor Impairment and Learning (SMILe) Lab, Jamie has not only advanced the field but also enhanced her leadership by training and mentoring new assistants. Shweta Mishra: College of Engineering 

Shweta Mishra is a Master of Science in Information Systems candidate at Northeastern University, who has exemplified remarkable leadership qualities through her academic and extracurricular involvement. Her journey from narrating Indian mythologies to her peers to mentoring over 30 colleagues in public speaking at the Barclays Pune Toastmasters Club highlights her growth as an empathetic leader dedicated to making a positive impact one peer at a time.

At Northeastern, Shweta has significantly contributed as a CommLab Fellow, aiding over 100 graduate students in enhancing their technical communication and professional skills. Her initiative in delivering workshops on Python, data science, job searching, and professional habits showcases her dedication to empowering students within the highly competitive job market. As an active member of the Toastmasters club, Shweta continues to spread happiness and positivity through engaging humor.

Anishma Metray: College of Professional Studies 

Anishma Metray is a standout leader known for her innovative leadership in academia and her excellence in project management. As President of the Northeastern University Project Management Student Organization (NUPM), she has led with vision, driving significant growth and fostering a vibrant, inclusive community. Laurel Schlegel: College of Social Sciences and Humanities

Laurel Schlegel is a Master’s student in Public History at Northeastern University, renowned for her leadership in public history projects and her dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices. Brandon Lyman: College of Arts, Media and Design

Rahul Kapadiya: College of Engineering  

Rahul Bhaveshbhai Kapadiya is a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering candidate at Northeastern University, recognized for his contributions to both chemical engineering education and practice. Excelling in the academically rigorous Kinetics of Chemical Processes course, Rahul emerged as a top performer, showcasing his deep comprehension of chemical engineering fundamentals. His role as a teaching assistant across several challenging courses has significantly impacted students’ learning experiences. Richard Hathaway: College of Professional Studies, Graduate School of Education 

Rick Hathaway, with over 30 years of experience in organizational leadership across global contexts, has impacted community development and leadership coaching. As the Area Vice President for Habitat for Humanity International in Europe, the Middle East, and previously in Asia and the Pacific, Rick has led significant initiatives, enhancing leadership programs, donor engagement, and strategic planning. His innovative and inclusive leadership style, prioritizing collaborative decision-making and empowerment, has been instrumental in fostering diverse teams and driving transformative change.

Rick’s doctoral research focuses on empowering emerging leaders within civil societies, particularly in Eastern Europe, by developing sustainable leadership programs. His work in North Macedonia, facilitating experiential learning initiatives for high school seniors from vulnerable communities, has not only engaged a wide array of local and national stakeholders but also sparked interest in neighboring countries like Albania. Through his action research, Rick has emphasized the importance of youth voice, collaborative relationships, active engagement, and strategic planning in leadership development.

Jonathan Page: College of Professional Studies, Graduate School of Education 

Jonathan E. Page, with an Ed.D. from Northeastern University, is a leader in higher education, focusing on diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and justice at Longwood University. As Assistant Dean of Multicultural Affairs & Title VI Coordinator, he has initiated key projects like the Clark House Intercultural Center and the CHANGE Multicultural Council, significantly advancing inclusivity for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ students. His efforts led to the first Lavender Graduation Ceremony and the development of the university’s inaugural diversity strategic plan, underscoring his dedication to systemic change and campus culture improvement.

Ryan Trismen: School of Law   

Ryan D. Trismen, a Juris Doctor candidate at Northeastern University School of Law, has dedicated himself to addressing the acute challenges and injustices within the housing system through legal advocacy and policy reform. His journey, marked by a deep commitment to the rights of underrepresented individuals in housing matters, showcases his passion for public service and social justice.

Ryan’s work as a student attorney in the Housing Rights Advocacy Clinic has allowed him to directly impact the lives of clients facing eviction, emphasizing the importance of legal representation in navigating the complexities of the housing court system. Through his defense of tenants in Massachusetts and Maine, Ryan has tackled cases that highlight the harsh realities of eviction and its consequences, from homelessness to enduring conditions of neglect and abuse. His advocacy underscores the disparity in legal representation between landlords and tenants, driving home the critical need for increased access to legal aid for vulnerable populations.
